From the President

With the New Year well under way, IFP is poised to make some exciting announcements on several fronts in the next few weeks and months.

Building on the 30 member-nations we reached in 2010, we're also looking forward to introducing several new member federations in the near future. The latest to welcome aboard is Bosnia & Herzegovina, who will bring greater recognition for poker as a Mind Sport in that part of the world.

While the past few weeks has seen the existing poker circuit crown new winners in some of its biggest events, IFP will soon be announcing the details of a brave new world for poker players.

It's heartening that while our preparatory work goes on, others around the world continue to pressure politicians on the merits of online poker, particularly in the United States, where fresh efforts are being made in Congress to speak up for online poker as a skill game.

Proof positive of that skill element came recently when Canada's Jonathan Duhamel won €202,232 during EPT Deauville, in France, less than three months after winning the $9 million WSOP 'main event' in Vegas. There's nothing like such consistently skilful players to show the outside world how skilful a game poker really is.
