Manchester 2011: tournament record and contemporary reporting
The March 2011 Manchester Main Event formed part of the second season of the UK and Ireland Poker Tour. Tournament records list 615 entries, a £307,500 prize pool and 81 paid places. The event took place at G Casino in Manchester, with the final day on 14 March 2011. McDerra received £74,000 for first place.
A contemporary report published by Bluff Europe on 15 March 2011 described a lengthy heads-up contest against Mateusz Warowiec. That report records a decisive confrontation involving McDerra’s set of fives, followed by the final hand shortly afterward. These details are attributed to that report rather than presented as a recovered original IFP article.
A note on the historical record
The archived summary names Owen Shiels in seventh place, as does the contemporary Bluff Europe report. Some later tournament tables instead list Ed Payne for that position. The discrepancy is left visible rather than silently resolved; the linked contemporary report and tournament database allow readers to compare the records.
